Regional Cities Victoria has launched its State Election platform with three key priorities needed to build
stronger regional communities.

The group, which comprises the 10 largest regional cities in Victoria officially launch its election platform at Parliament House on last night, calling for targeted investment into regional Victoria.

Cr Jen Bray, Hepburn Shire Council

Hepburn Shire has expressed strong opposition to newly announced overhead transmission lines as part of the Victoria – New South Wales Interconnector West project.

Deputy Mayor Cr Jen Bray said while the council is highly supportive of renewable energy, it is not happy about the above ground lines and the proposed location of a terminal station at Mt Prospect, near Creswick and Daylesford.

Four Victorian councils are among the finalists for the Premier’s Sustainability Awards, which are in their 20th year.

Greater Geelong is a finalist in two categories, while the City of Darebin, Gannawarra Shire and Greater Bendigo each have one finalist nomination. Winners will be announced on the 20th September.

Councils from across NSW have been recognised for their outstanding achievements over the past year at the Local Government Week Awards 2022.

The awards were staged at the Fullerton Hotel in Sydney last night, and Woollahra Municipal Council was the big winner, taking home three awards
