QLD: LGAQ welcomes regional university hubs expansion

News

Queensland’s peak body for councils has welcomed an announcement of new regional university study hubs.

Federal Education Minister Jason Clare has announced 20 regional and 14 suburban hubs in areas without a significant university campus and  where there is a low percentage of university qualifications.

LGAQ CEO Alison Smith said educational opportunities were a critical part of improving liveability in Australia’s most decentralised state.

The locations of the hubs will be determined through an independent process, and Ms Smith said the LGAQ looks forward to Queensland being positively reviewed through that process.
