Cr Trevor Dance,
Hume City Council

Some local government stories making news since our last episode:

Hume City Council has announced it will appeal a VCAT ruling that overturned a serious misconduct finding against Cr Trevor Dance. The Council believes the decision has negative implications for the state’s councillor conduct framework.

Two more Victorian councillors have resigned, separate to the nine councillors recently elected to State Parliament.

Keri McCafferty

Keri McCafferty has stepped down at Mornington Peninsula Shire for personal reasons; and Alexander Lew has resigned from Stonnington City Council – no reason given.

The VEC has scheduled a countback to replace former Cr Lew for the 18th January. Details of a countback to replace former Cr McCafferty are pending.

There are now 11 vacancies on Victorian Councils to be filled, with most to be determined by countback. Details on countbacks and by-elections are being added to our handy reference list here as they become available.
