Glenelg Shire Council has published the terms of reference for the appointment of municipal monitors, who are yet to be named.
The monitors’ term will commence 13th November, for a period of three months, concluding 13th February 2024.
They will be charged with monitoring the Council’s governance function, having specific regard to key areas of concern raised by the Mayor in correspondence to the Local Government Minister.
This will include the process of appointing an acting or interim chief executive officer following the recent resignation of CEO Paul Phelan.
The monitors will be required to report to the Minister on any recommended actions for improving governance, the proper performance of the Council’s statutory role, and any matters relating to the conduct of councillors.
