New Mayor for Adelaide Hills

News

Nathan Daniell has been elected Mayor of Adelaide Hills Council after a supplementary election, defeating Andrew Stratford with 4179 votes to 2758.

Daniell, who’s been a councillor since 2014 and served as Acting Mayor since March last year, says he’s honoured by the community’s trust and will focus on protecting the Hills’ character, financial sustainability, environmental care, and sport and recreation facilities.

The Deputy Mayor position will be decided at the next Council meeting on February 24th. Council CEO Greg Georgopoulos has congratulated the new Mayor and said he looks forward to continuing their working relationship.

The supplementary election was required after Jan-Claire Wisdom quit the position last September, following the resignations of three councillors and a call for SafeWork SA to investigate claims about a toxic council culture.
