The contest for who will be the next mayor of Toowoomba will be decided at a special Council meeting today.
There are two known candidates to take the reins from retiring, long term mayor Paul Antonio.
The Toowoomba Chronicle reports that one of those candidates, Cr Carol Taylor, has been in hospital this week and is planning to check out this morning to be at the special meeting scheduled for 12 noon.
The other confirmed candidate is current deputy mayor Geoff McDonald.
