Quilpie Shire CEO Justin Hancock to Depart After Five Years

Quilpie Shire Council has confirmed that Chief Executive Officer Justin Hancock has tendered his resignation, with his final day set for Friday, 16 October 2026.

Mayor Ben Hall said Mr Hancock’s departure marked the end of a significant period of leadership for the Shire, crediting him with strengthening Council’s operations and supporting major projects over more than five and a half years in the role.

“Council’s direction and priorities remain steady,” Mayor Hall said, adding that a thorough and transparent recruitment process would begin shortly.

No reason for the resignation was stated in Council’s release. Mr Hancock thanked Mayor Hall, current councillors and former elected members for their support during his tenure, saying he was proud of what had been achieved and confident in the Shire’s future.
