Cr Halstead has been preselected as the Liberal candidate for the seat of Bass in the upcoming state election. She remains a councillor for the time being, until the campaign begins in earnest in the coming months.

Cr Tessari has previously served three terms as mayor, the last in 2020/21.

As Cr Tessari was serving as deputy mayor, a new election for that office was required. There were two nominations for the position – Crs Ron Bauer and Jon Temby – and Cr Bauer was elected by a vote of six to three.
