Kingston Councillor resigns

Kingston City Council has announced the immediate resignation of Melaleuca Ward Councillor Tess Law.

Cr Law was elected in November 2024, and her resignation will trigger a by-election.

Mayor Georgina Oxley expressed her gratitude for Cr Law’s service, particularly her representation of the Melaleuca Ward, and extended best wishes for her future endeavors.

CEO Peter Bean confirmed that the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will support Melaleuca residents during the coming weeks.

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) will oversee the by-election process, and eligible residents in the Melaleuca Ward will be required to vote. The date for the by-election is yet to be set.
