Tasmania’s Dorset Council has announced that General Manager John Marik will conclude his tenure with Council in mid-November 2026, bringing to a close more than nine years with the organisation.
Mr Marik joined Dorset Council in 2017 as Director Corporate Services and was appointed General Manager in late 2022. Mayor Cr Rhys Beattie said Council was grateful for his service, describing him as someone who had always had Dorset’s best interests at heart and had built strong relationships across the region and with all levels of government.
Mr Marik said the decision to leave was “a decision I have made for myself and my family, and to put my health and wellbeing first”. He said his proudest achievement had been the relationships built within Council, across the community, and with neighbouring councils and government.
Mayor Beattie said Council would now begin the process of recruiting a new General Manager to ensure continuity of services and projects for the Dorset community.
