Coorong Announces new CEO appointment
Coorong District Council has announced the appointment of Scott Reardon as its new Chief Executive Officer, following what council described as a robust recruitment process.

Mr Reardon brings extensive local government management experience to the region, having previously served as the CEO of the neighbouring District Council of Karoonda East Murray.
With a career spanning multiple South Australian councils, Mr Reardon’s background includes acting CEO roles at the District Council of Coober Pedy and the Town of Walkerville. He has also held senior administrative positions at the Town of Walkerville and the City of Holdfast Bay, focusing heavily on governance, compliance, strategic planning, and property development.
Acting Coorong Mayor Cr. Jonathan Pietzsch welcomed the appointment, stating that Mr Reardon stood out among a highly competitive field for his demonstrated leadership and commitment to rural communities. Mr Reardon has highlighted economic development, sustainable growth, and close community collaboration as his key priorities as he prepares to transition into the role over the coming months.
The appointment concludes a six-month transition period led by Interim CEO Myles Somers, who was thanked by elected members for maintaining organisational stability during the recruitment phase. Mr Reardon is expected to formally commence his duties shortly, guiding the council’s upcoming strategic initiatives.
