Community Mourns Passing of Long-Serving Councillor Lisa Intemann

The Port Macquarie-Hastings region is in mourning following the passing of Councillor Lisa Intemann, a dedicated public servant and community advocate whose influence spanned more than three decades. Cr Intemann passed away at John Hunter Hospital on Friday, March 20.

Mayor Adam Roberts, speaking on behalf of the Council and the wider community, expressed deep sadness and extended heartfelt condolences to Cr Intemann’s family, who have requested privacy during this difficult time.

“Lisa dedicated much of her life to serving the Port Macquarie-Hastings community, and her passion for making our region a better place was evident in everything she did,” Mayor Roberts said. “From her early days in the mid-1990s through to her many roles across Council and the community, Lisa brought care, insight, and a deep understanding of local issues.”

Cr Intemann’s political career began in 1995, when she was first elected to the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council. She served three consecutive terms until 2008. Following a period of administration, she returned to the chamber with successful re-elections in 2012, 2016, 2021, and most recently in 2024.

Throughout her tenure, she was known as a formidable advocate for her constituents, blending long-term experience with a genuine connection to the people she represented. Her commitment extended beyond the council chambers; she was a tireless volunteer and participant in numerous local community organisations.

In a symbolic gesture of respect, flags at Council buildings are being flown at half-mast today.

Council officials have indicated they will take time to reflect on Cr Intemann’s extensive service before discussing appropriate ways to permanently commemorate her contributions to the region.
