Bega Valley Shire Council has renewed the contract of Chief Executive Officer Anthony McMahon, following a decision at the council’s meeting on Wednesday, 15 July.
Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick said the reappointment would provide continuity for the organisation as it works through service delivery, infrastructure and strategic priorities across the shire. He noted Mr McMahon has led the council through a period of significant change and brings more than fifteen years of senior local government leadership experience.
Mr McMahon holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Masters of Management, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and is currently completing a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning.
Mr McMahon, who commenced with the council on a five year contract in early 2022, said he was grateful for the opportunity to continue in the role, pointing to work already delivered by council staff and expressing intent to continue working with councillors and staff to support the community.
