Another New Local Government Minister in Victoria
Victoria’s Cabinet lineup includes a new role for Tim Richardson MP, who has been officially appointed as the Minister for Local Government, Consumer Affairs and Renters.

He replaces Paul Hamer, who has held the portfolio since April this year. He now becomes the Minister for Roads and Road Safety.
The announcement forms part of a broader ministerial refresh focused on cost-of-living relief, housing, healthcare, and state services.
About Tim Richardson MP
*Electorate: Member for Mordialloc in the Victorian Legislative Assembly since November 2014.
Parliamentary Experience: Prior to stepping into his new ministerial portfolio, Richardson served as Cabinet Secretary, Parliamentary Secretary for Men’s Behaviour Change, Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier, and Parliamentary Secretary across education, mental health, and health infrastructure portfolios.
* Focus Areas: Richardson has been a strong advocate for public education funding, climate action, mental health support, and local community infrastructure throughout his time in parliament.
In his new portfolio, Richardson will oversee local government policies, consumer rights, and key initiatives addressing Victorian renters and housing affordability.
