October Series #7 – Critical Incident Preparedness

Interview

During October, the Local Government News Roundup presents a series of special programs focussing on current issues of relevance to the local government sector. Regular Roundup news updates will return in early November.

On the Local Government News Roundup – October Series today, Chris is joined by Allan Briggs, founder and owner of Crisis Shield; and Tom Crampton, MD and CEO of Trusted Impact.

These days, it seems hardly a week goes by without news of an organisation getting caught up in a cyber security crisis or some other critical incident.

In August of last year, Stonnington City Council in Melbourne was forced to shut down online systems after being infiltrated by an overseas hacker.

Since recording this interview, telco giant Optus fell victim to hackers who obtained private data relating to millions of customers.

Where do local governments turn to for help in these situations? And is enough being done to reduce the likelihood that your organisation will be targeted in this way.

Allan and Tom share their insights and experience, and leave you with some words to live by so that you can be better prepared for the day your organisation is faced with a critical incident.
