Leeton Shire Council has engaged Professor Joseph Drew from the University of Newcastle to conduct an independent and comprehensive review of its financial position, with his visit scheduled for April 14-17.
If the review indicates financial viability concerns, a second stage would involve community consultation and potentially an application for a special rate variation through IPART.
Professor Drew, a distinguished expert in local government finance, will work with his colleagues to prepare a comprehensive report to be presented at the June Ordinary Council Meeting, marking a significant step in addressing the council’s financial sustainability challenges.
