The Victorian State Government has made two announcements this week relating the appointment of municipal monitors in the state.
Janet Dore has been appointed as monitor at Strathbogie Shire to help improve governance practices and to help Councillors understand their roles and responsibilities under the Local Government Act. More here.
A monitor will be appointed to South Gippsland Shire following next month’s election of councillors, after a period of more than two years under administration. The monitor will assist the new Councillors to take ownership of a positive and inclusive culture to help build public trust, and build on the work that the panel of administrators have been doing to restore community confidence.
