Benalla Rural City Council has appointed Peter Keane as its new Chief Executive Officer, following a competitive selection process that drew more than 50 applicants.
Mr Keane, a mechanical engineer with an MBA from Deakin University, brings substantial experience from his roles in Queensland and Western Australia.

His most recent position was with the Council of Mayors South East Queensland, where he served as Director of Waste Portfolio Management Office.
Mayor Bernie Hearn emphasized Keane’s strong credentials in project management and financial oversight, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the council forward.
The new CEO will commence his four-year term on May 1st, 2025.
Speaking about his appointment, Peter expressed enthusiasm for the role and the region, confirming plans to relocate to Benalla with his wife.
