October Series #1 – Councillor Remuneration

Interview

During October, the Local Government News Roundup presents a series of special programs focussing on current issues of relevance to the local government sector. Regular Roundup news updates will return in early November.

On this episode of the Local Government News Roundup – October Series, the topic  is councillor remuneration – and whether the level of remuneration acts as a barrier for improving the diversity of representation at the local level.

Chris Eddy speaks with Tanya Jakimow, an Associate Professor at the Australian National University, who has led a team of researchers looking at how NSW councillors feel about the adequacy of remuneration for the effort that the role requires.
